Hunting Taylor Brown by Rhys Hagan

Excerpt from chapter seven:

Suddenly, a red SUV carefully navigating between the trees appeared in his view. It parked near the shack, and Hall saw someone disembark from the aging vehicle; an older, barrel-chested man with sharp, hardened features and thick-rimmed glasses.

Hall’s stomach sank. He could feel his military instincts kicking in; gentle and quiet breathing, keen attention to details, and a disciplined stillness were habitually overtaking him.

The man briskly stepped to the back door of his car and struggled with something that Hall couldn’t quite make out at first. Dragging it aggressively, it slumped to the ground and squirmed. Then, bending down and hoisting it over his shoulder, he made his way to the cabin with what Hall could now see was a young girl, bound, blindfolded, and screaming.

Born in Regional Victoria, Australia in 1990, Rhys Hagan displayed a passion for creative writing throughout his childhood years.

After high school, he joined the Royal Australian Army as a rifleman to develop skills he will carry with him for life. His experiences have also enriched his perspective as a writer. He regularly draws on his time in the military as a source of inspiration for his writing.

Raven by Pauline Creeden

This is the complete Steampunk Fantasy novel – all four parts of the serial in one volume!

Human life has value.
The poor living in the gutter is as valuable as the rich living in a manor.
The scoundrel is no less valuable than the saint.
Because of this, every life a reaper takes must be redeemed.

Raven has lived by this first tenet since she was trained by her father to become a reaper. But since his death, she’s been spending years redeeming the lives she’s taken. By her count, she’s even and it’s time for that life to end. If she settles down and becomes a wife, she might just feel human again. But on the way to the life she thinks she wants, the baron of New Haven asks her to complete a task which she cannot ignore… Just when Raven decides to give up on her life as an assassin, she’s pulled right back in.

Pauline Creeden

Pauline Creeden is a horse trainer from Virginia, but writing is her therapy. In her fiction, she creates worlds that are both familiar and strange, often pulling the veil between dimensions. She becomes the main character in each of her stories, and because she has ADD, she will get bored if she pretends to be one person for too long.

The Blood Sisters by Jill Cooper #booktour

Lourdes has been slain and the new queen of the underworld has been chosen.

It was the day the Blood sisters had been striving for. The day where they would be free of Lourdes and could go back to living normal lives, but with the underworld’s throne empty, the Earth plunges into chaos.

Rivers turn black, demons run amok, with more chaos is about to be unleashed. All the while demon hunter, Duncan Jasper, is prisoner of the enemy. Jessica will stop at nothing to free him from Vain, a bounty hunter who trades in the lives of humans.

Getting into her stronghold won’t be easy, and Vain will be expecting a fight, but what she won’t be expecting is Jessica’s secret weapon. The newly crowned queen of the underworld, her very own sister.

essica hopes Amanda can resist the dark magic now surging through her veins long enough for a special artifact—The Ruby Heart—to be found, the one thing that can purify Amanda’s heart and break the awful curse.

But Amanda has other plans. If she sacrifices herself to the underworld, she hopes to do one better. Kill the demons from the inside and free the trapped souls being tormented for an eternity.

One way or another, it will surely come to sister vs sister in a full-scale war.

All in the name of Blood.

I could write this in the third person. I could tell you what I like, where I was born, and what my favorite things are.

But instead, I’ll say I don’t want to write like everyone else. I don’t want to craft stories you’ve read a thousand times before. I want my novels to be a cinematic experience, blending themes, genres, and situations unlike any you’ve ever read.

I want to break the rules. I want you to break out in a cold sweat as you read my books out of fear, love, and excitement. I want my books to be an experience. When you finish, I want you to feel something. Good or bad.

If you do, then I’ll have succeeded. If not, I’ll keep trying.

Jessica Blood loves her sister to a fault she will do anything for her even sacrifice herself as the new Queen of the Underworld? Join the race, the race to find Jasper and rescue him from the evil Vain and find a way to save Amanda from an undesirable fate.  The race is on how will it work out when all the answers keep slipping through their fingers.

I love Jill Cooper’s writing her characters are awesome but you never know what you are gonna get. There is always an element of surprise that I love. I love it when I can’t predict the outcome or what I predict doesn’t happen. You know I’m a genius so I usually predict right lol.

This was an excellent finish to this story. It was high intensity; there was not one moment of down time. I loved this fast pace roller coaster ride of a story. Jessica was as awesome as ever still a hard ass but in her line of work you gotta do what you gotta do. Amanda was still as sweet but a darker side started to unleash in her and it made her character pop. Duncan was still awesome and the love between Duncan and Jessica pushed through and you could see the depth of how much they care about each other. It was sweet to see that side of Jessica.

This was a great story and I loved the outcome of it, not as I expected but glad. You should read this energetic thrill ride of a series. You never know if there could be more or if The Blood sisters finally get the rest they deserve.  This is not a standalone you need to read 1 & 2 for it to make sense or you’ll be totally messed up. I had book 1 & 2 mixed up and started on 2 and I was like what the heck is happening. Ha then I figured it out. So go get started today!! Awesome story.
